About Mike

Why Mike wants to be a State Representative

As Mike considers the future, for himself and his family, he realizes that our government has become more about taking from individuals than protecting them and punishing criminals. Mike believes, like our founding fathers, that citizens of Missouri, and the United States, should be able to work, earn money, buy property, and save for the future. Mike believes that taxes should be minimal and used to support only the necessary elements of government.
It has become obvious to Mike that the federal government is not operating according to the U.S. Constitution. Because of this, it is up to the individual States to invoke the 10th amendment: to stand against regulations intended to choke and kill the economy; to stop the enforcement of unconstitutional federal laws; and to resist all forces which fight against individual liberty and freedom.

Mike’s Background

Working for a large hospital organization for more than 27 years has enabled Mike to practice the hard work ethic he learned as a youngster and realize the reward of serving others. Mike has been involved in community service with the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and the Springfield-Southeast Rotary Club. Mike is a recipient of the “Lend-a-Hand” award given to Springfield-Southeast Rotarians who exemplify Rotary International’s credo of “Service Above Self.”
Mike’s personal faith in Jesus Christ is evidenced not only by his service to the congregation of High Street Baptist Church as a deacon, mission committeeman, and as an elementary Sunday school teacher but also by the way in which he conducts his daily business.
“Over the last 28 years I have known Mike Moon to be a strong, moral, honest conservative who will work hard for the good of the people of Lawrence County and a better Missouri.”
-Mavis Busiek
7th Congressional District Director
Mike worked his way through school earning a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education at Southwest Missouri State University. In addition to his coursework, throughout his collegiate experience, he enjoyed solving customer concerns for a Springfield business. During this hands-on learning experience, Mike developed a great appreciation for negotiating with people and reaching amicable solutions, a much needed skill for a Representative.
